As today, we're excited that David's joining us a long time coming David I saw you in a

press box somewhere Brett Norsworthy introduced us and I'm so excited we can connect today yeah I'm

glad I can be on with you Brad it's it's been crazy just following your work we met in Lexington

during that old miss Kentucky game and it it's funny isn't it because I actually wrote about Austin Simmons coming out of that game because you remember he had those two early picks. But then he really redeemed himself in the second half. That's when the ankle injury happened. But I wrote this story about like, man, Austin Simmons, looks like he could be the next really good Ole Miss quarterback under Lane Kiffin. And then lo and behold, here we are going into the 26th season now.

And neither Austin Simmons or Lane Kiffin are at Ole Miss, but such is the world of college sports we live in.

The whole world of Trinidad Chambliss would begin. And little did we know that that meeting that we had,

things would kind of blow up from there. The season as a whole, David, I know you followed Ole Miss pretty close. We'll get to basketball a moment. I know you're wide open basketball. But I don't know if you know this or not, but Oxford really likes his football. And I want to kind of kind of put a bow on last year's team. What kind of did you take away from last year's team about how

well they played down the stretch and then of course ending with the loss of the festival wow i mean

just what a ride uh it felt like they were playing with house money in the playoff that that two lane

game i wasn't there but watching it on tv i can't remember such a just a celebration of a program's achievements

I mean that that game felt like a celebration but the great thing for old miss is that it wasn't

just a celebration it wasn't like a just a woohoo we made it let's celebrate and have this

home playoff game it was like no we're here to win. We're here to try to

win a national title. And they were right there at the end, obviously, against a Miami team that

was good enough to do it. So, you know, you wonder like, man, if that Miami game ends a little

differently, what does Ole Miss versus Indiana look like? Because, you know, Indiana was clearly the best team in college football, but I would have loved to have seen a

Trinidad Chambliss versus Fernando Mendoza showdown, right? But in the grand scheme of things,

it's got to be regarded as the greatest Ole Miss football season in modern history. I mean,

if you draw that line at the end of Archie's career or wherever you want to draw it,
