I'm Sebastian Payne and in this week's episode we'll be discussing

the upcoming Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham and whether Whitehall is ready for Brexit

Blitz Whitehall editor. Thank you all for joining. So let's kick off with the Conservative Party conference

which begins on Sunday. After the excitement of Labour's jamboree in Liverpool, it's now the

party of government's term to meet, discuss and debate the future of what's going to happen in British politics.

It's also Theresa May's first conference as Prime Minister and she faces numerous policy challenges herself,

not least getting her party on side

over Brexit and explaining her new sandsome grammar schools amongst other things.

So George Parker Labour's event was a little bit flat last week, I think we'd say say do you think there's going to be more

fiz and excitement from the Tories? Well being at the Labour Conference in

Liverpool reminded me a bit of attending National Union of Students conferences

back in the 1980s quite detached from the real world and rather

preoccupied with the internal machinations of the party.
