This fireside address, entitled,

There is Always Hope,

was given on June 3rd of 1984 by John H. Groberg,

then, a member of the first quorum of the 70

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I want to visit with you this evening on a level that will be most mutually profitable,

and in order for that to happen, I ask for your faith and prayers on behalf of all of us,

that what is said and what is heard will be influenced and touched by the Spirit of God.

I appreciate that. It's good to pray for one another. It helps everyone.

The subject I wish to speak on this evening is one that I hope you'll appreciate. I know I do.

And it is simply this. There is always hope.

I've read and heard from different psychologists and teachers that we have to hear something

at least 20 times before we really hear it.

My experience with my own children is that 20 times is far too few.

But in any event, to make sure that we all hear, I will use the phrase, there is always

hope, not just 20 times, but at least 30 times this evening.

I hope you don't get tired, but that you understand.

There is always hope.

No matter how dismal things appear, no matter how problem prone we seem to be, no matter what

reversals and setbacks we suffer, there is always hope.
