Hello and welcome to DSR. I'm David Rothko, if your host, and this week is every week we're going to look at what

we think are the big stories going on in the world, but there's a little twist because

usually we talk about foreign policy and national security on this podcast.

And right now, the battle that we are focused on is actually not happening overseas.

It's happening here in the United States.

American cities are being occupied by the federal government.

There is promise potentially of sending even more federal forces into those cities.

And there is big pushback coming from the people of those cities.

And I want to talk about that.

And we will do it with our guests. First of all, our stalwart, our regular, our North Star, Rosa Brooks of Georgetown University of Law Center. How are you doing North Star?

I've never been a North Star before. It's a new experience.

Well, you have been a North Star for all of us for a long time.

And another person who's just up there just a little bit off to the side of the North Star

is our friend David Korn of Mother Jones, who has been writing about all of this

brilliantly well, I think. How are you doing, David?

I'm not answering that question anymore, nor am I asking it, but I am happy to be basking in the

glow of a North Star here now. So I'm feeling better by the moment. Well, that's good. I'm glad

you are, but let me start with you, because we are in a

situation where cities of the United States are being occupied. And contrary to what you might

have thought, the U.S., you know, the military, the armed forces the United States, the federal assets of the U.S.
