Keeping them honest tonight, potentially hundreds of military employees and contractors who may have bought child pornography online,

but haven't been prosecuted or even in some cases investigated.

That's right, you heard me, child pornography.

Many of 1,700 names, according to a U.S. Senator, on a list of 5,200 from an internet sting operation overlooked the first time around four years ago.

On January 6, 2011, Anderson Cooper went live on his CNN show, keeping them honest with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley,

publicly exposing an overlooked internet sting operation from 2006, five years prior, that was being reopened,

which previously had discovered approximately 5,200 government employees

and contractors working for the United States government who had purchased child pornography,

or CP, as we're going to call it for the remainder of this episode. Most of these individuals

were from the Department of Defense and had Army or fleet addresses and zip codes.

Out of those 5,200 names, only 3,500 of them were cross-checked or investigated further.

The remaining names were never touched.

Out of those 3,500 names who were cross-checked, only 264 employees or contractors of the

Secretary of Defense and National Security Agency were identified.

And only approximately 52 of those names were investigated at all.

So keep that in mind. Over 5,200 predators were found to be working for the United States government.

And out of those 5,200 predators, only 52 of

them were investigated at all. The operation, known as Operation Flickr, ended eight months later

with only a handful of prosecutions. But what happened to the other thousands of government

employees or contractors who were identified as having purchased CP using their own private accounts.

Well, according to a Pentagon spokesman, Operation Flickr originally ended less than a year after it started due to a, quote, lack of resources.

Only now are they supposedly getting a second look and only after pressure from investigative reporters and the U.S. Senator, Republican Charles Grassley.
