| 0:37.1 | He is my coworker. He is my best friend. He's also my husband. And he is on staff here at Daily Grace. I'm joined by Scott Dixon. Welcome. Hi. Thanks. This is actually not your first time on the podcast. This is your second time. We did one with you and Kent, who is Shelby's husband. We did a marriage episode. That was super fun. But today we're talking about the Ascension, a slightly different topic than marriage. Last week, Shelby and Beth talked through the death and the resurrection of Christ, which is always what we reflect on during Easter. But we often stop there. If we're talking about the gospel, sometimes we'll say because of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, we have freedom. And that's true, but we often don't include the ascension. And I get teased a lot here at Daily Grace, where I was trying to like throw that in because the ascension is important too. And so that's what we're going to talk about. We're going to talk about thecension of Christ. And it's not a coincidence that we asked you to do this episode because when I think about how I've grown in my knowledge of the Ascension, I can actually trace it back to a sermon. Actually, the very first sermon I ever heard you preach. I think we were dating, maybe engaged. And you were like, I'm going to go preach a sermon. And I was thinking, |
| 1:45.4 | I sure hope he's good at it because I've never heard him. And then you did a run through. |
| 1:49.5 | And I was thinking, he's like really good. And he's like a good Bible teacher. And so you taught on |
| 1:54.4 | the Ascension. And it really just opened my eyes to the importance and the beauty of it. And so |
| 1:58.4 | that's what we're going to do today. So thanks for |
| 2:00.9 | joining me for this topic. Thanks for asking. Okay. So I know I kind of somewhat introduced yourself, |
| 2:06.2 | but will you go ahead and just share a little bit about yourself with your eyes? So yeah, my name is |
| 2:11.2 | Scott. I am a theological editor here at the Daily Grace Co. I am father to two wonderful kiddos, |
| 2:17.4 | two boys ages 10 and 8. |
| 2:20.2 | I am a Dallas Cowboys fanatic and had been all my life. Next year is our year. I've been |
| 2:26.1 | married to a wonderful woman for 12 and a half years, you. And fun fact about us is for all but one of those years of marriage, we have actually |
| 2:38.2 | worked together. Yeah, which some people either like, oh, I would love that or they say, |
| 2:43.7 | I don't know how you do it. But yeah, we were on church staff together for many years. And then |
| 2:49.0 | I came to Daily Grace and then you came to Daily Grace. |
| 2:51.3 | So it's been a lot of fun getting to work alongside of each other. |
