Summary

In this episode of Theology Applied, Pastor Joel sits down for a conversation with Pastor Doug Wilson to discuss the necessity of Christians leaving California, as well as some mistakes that are important for California refugees to avoid.

As a special note: Pastor Joel met with Pastor Wilson back in February 2020. Wilson’s counsel was a significant factor in influencing Joel to leave California himself, and Joel is very grateful.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Pastor Joel and his family, along with a few other families, officially said goodbye to California and moved to Hutto, Texas in December 2020. Lord willing, they plan to plant a new church in Texas called Covenant Bible Church - covenantbible.org.

0:16.0	And today I have a very special guest.
0:18.0	We have Pastor Doug Wilson in Moscow, Idaho, joining us. And we were actually
0:23.3	going to be talking about tone and the important of presentation in content. I think what we're
0:29.2	saying really matters, but how we say it matters also. So we're going to go that route. But
0:34.6	kind of last minute, I'm throwing an audible, and Doug is gracious enough to oblige.
0:39.0	So we're going to actually talk about what we're seeing, I think right now in 2020,
0:44.1	is a mass exodus out of blue states into red states.
0:47.3	I'm currently in California at the end of this year.
0:49.6	My family and I, and about close to 20 other adults are going to be leaving the
0:54.9	Response Church in San Diego, California. We're going to be going to Texas, where I
0:59.0	was born and raised, to plant Lord willing, a new church and try to experience
1:04.8	more freedom, more protection of our rights, and ultimately try to produce
1:10.2	more for the Lord Jesus Christ and soil
1:13.6	that we think might be a little bit more fertile and might yield a better crop. And so Doug's done a lot
1:18.9	of work on this. He was actually influential for me personally in a conversation that I got to
1:23.8	have with him over breakfast in Moscow earlier this year. And he was urging me to go to leave California.
1:30.6	And that was before COVID-19 even was on the scene.
1:33.7	So I assume that his opinion is probably only increased.
