It really is about, you know, self-determination and validating our own hopes and dreams and our own stories and being able to tell them.

Well Red Black Girl started in 2015 as an Instagram book club for Black women, fems, and

non-binary folks to find community and discussing their favorite books.

But at Well Red Black Girl meetings, they don't just talk about the books.

They actually talk to the authors. Because of that, the impact of well-read black girl has been

felt not just among its members, but in the publishing industry at large. Since its inception,

well-red black girl has grown to include a newsletter, festival, two anthology books, and now a podcast with the same name.
