that had some people convinced that they were in the midst of a real-life zombie apocalypse.

heard some of the rumors and misinformation that surrounds it. So what is the truth? How did 19-year-old

Austin Hariff go from being a shy, smart, 19-year-old college freshman to a killer in a matter of months.

Austin Hariff was born December 21, 1996, to his parents, Wade, and Mina.

And a year later, Austin became a big brother after the birth of his sister, Haley.

The Hariff family lived in Palm Beach County, Florida, in a quite affluent area.

Austin was very close with his mother and his sister, but the

relationship with his father could be strained at times. Austin's father, Wade, was a very

successful dentist, and he could be kind of strict. The two of them could definitely clash,

and his father had high expectations for his son, which led to Austin feeling pressured to succeed.

For the most part, Austin seemed like a normal, shy, happy, goofy kid, the first signs of

trouble starting in middle school when Austin was bullied for his weight and acne.

Austin, who was always shy, got even more withdrawn,
