3:15pm- According to new polling data from Morning Consult, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump now leads President Joe Biden in all seven swing statesâArizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsinâin a hypothetical head-to-head matchup in the 2024 presidential election. 3:20pm- While appearing on MSNBC with Jen Psaki, Miles Taylorâa self-described member of âthe resistanceâ within the Trump Administration following the 2016 electionâclaimed that if former President Donald Trump won re-election, he could punish Americans by shutting off the internet! 3:50pm- On Thursday, California Governor Gavin Newsom appeared as a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers where he claimed to be addressing San Franciscoâs homeless crisis.
4:05pm- Ari Blaff of National Review writes: âA former FBI counterintelligence chief who played a pivotal role in launching the Trump-Russia probe was sentenced to just over four years in prison for assisting a sanctioned Russian oligarch after leaving his post in 2019. In August, Charles McGonigal, a 22-year veteran of the bureauâs field office in New York, was found guilty of a count of conspiracy for working with Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire with close ties to President Vladimir Putin. During his stint with the bureau, McGonigal received classified information that Deripaska would be designated a Russian oligarch with close ties to the Kremlin, the indictment alleged. McGonigal was legally obligated to inform the FBI of his relationship with foreign officials, which he violated by continuing communication and establishing business ties with Deripaska.â You can read Blaffâs full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/fbi-official-who-helped-launch-trump-russia-probe-sentenced-to-four-years-in-prison-for-work-with-russian-oligarch/
4:15pm- David Zimmerman of National Review writes: âThe House on Thursday passed the National Defense Authorization Act, an annual defense bill that will this year include an extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Actâs Section 702, the controversial law that permits warrantless surveillance of foreign nationals. The House voted 310-118 in favor of the bill just before congressmen left for Christmas recess. The annual national-defense bill was passed by the Senate Wednesday, and is now headed to President Joe Bidenâs desk to be signed into law. The final version of the NDAA authorizes $886 billion in national-defense spending, an increase of $28 billion over fiscal year 2023.â You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/house-passes-annual-defense-bill-extends-section-702-surveillance-authority/
