March 12, 2011, started out as just another day at the Lulule women's store in Bethesda,

Maryland, when the manager Rachel arrived at around 8 a.m. to open up.

But when she went to unlock the door, she saw that it was already open.

And as soon as she walked inside, she knew that something was very wrong.

Things had been knocked over, there were lights on, signs of a struggle, and then she

heard a noise.

It sounded like someone was in the back of the store, moaning.

Terrified, Rachel backed outside, and called 911.

She saw a guy sitting outside the Apple store on a bench.

His name was Ryan Haugh, and he was there because the company had just released their new

iPad too.

The lines to get into the store had been insane the day before.

So on that morning, Ryan was determined to get his iPad.

The manager told Ryan that she was waiting for the police.

But once she said that she'd heard a voice inside the store, he volunteered to go inside

with her to check things out.

So they went back inside.

He walked to the back of the store, and saw a trail of blood and a woman lying face

down at the end of a narrow hallway.

Blood was everywhere, and they could see that the back of the woman's head had been badly

beaten.

All they could tell about the victim was that she was white and female.
