I don't know if you know this about me, but I do play in a funk band.

I play bass in a funk band. A parliament funkadella cover band.

They're called the Mother Ship Connections.

We're emerging of the All Girls Band, the brides of funk and Stein, featuring lead singer,

Senator Diane Funkstein, with another band, the Interplanetary Funksmanship quartet.

That was my old band, but I digress.

So we're looking to hire a new drummer. We're looking to cut an album and get a drummer,

an experienced musician. We need a drummer.

And so we wanted to get a good session musician, a good studio player, word went out,

and an application came in. So let's call this guy an old Joe.

So we talk to Joe and he gives me a tape where the drumming seems fine. I have him in.

And the conversation goes well. What I usually like to do is actually jam with the guy,

but you know, the rest of the Mother Ship Connections were out.

So I said to him, are you playing anywhere live? And he said, yeah, and he gave me the time in the place.
