The New Beverly Cinema presents the Pure Cinema podcast. My name's Brian Sauer. I'm joined, as always, of course, by the wonderful Mr. Elric Kane. Mr. Kane, 25 years is a long time. And it's funny because it's sort of, this doesn't

quite coincide with my move to Los Angeles, although it's real close. It's like a year out,

year plus on that. But we decided we would talk about some movies from 2000. That's an interesting

idea. Yeah, the year 2000. I mean,'s probably the most critical, outside of like childhood type years, it's definitely proving to be one of the most critical for me.

It was half the year I was in Irvine, California, so I left New Zealand University, did an exchange program. So this was like

a critical work to study film making. I'd only done film studies. And so I got to do, that was like

my first taste of a filmmaking class that I could take. And while I was there in the second half of the

year, so that was halfway through 99 into 2000. And then at the second half of 2000, I was working

at the Edwards theater down there. So seeing a lot of movies there and then back to New Zealand at the second half of 2000 I was working at the Edwards theater down there so seeing

interesting because part of this challenge is we're doing two things we're we're trying to change

it up a little bit this year by just doing things that we haven't done before for fun so one of those

things is going to be a counting down our top 10 of this year list which is that we haven't done before for fun. So one of those things is going to be a counting down our top 10 of this year list,

which is saying we haven't done much of.

And then at the start, we were going to be like, hey, let's do three films we had never seen from that period.

I will say, when I looked through all the lists that I could find of every movie released,

I can't think of a year

where I saw more. There was so few movies I hadn't seen from this year. It's insane. Now,

they're not all logged on letterbox because I didn't have a lot of it. It's insane. I'm talking

like shit movies. I'm talking like, I'm talking about like the kind of thing you would only

watch on a plane. I went to everything. Now,

there's a couple that I purposely missed or something happened and that's where I end up filling
