Summary

This is the last summer episode to be recorded on campus in our "studio in the forest" as students return to campus later this month. Alas the parking patrol was already back in full force and we were forced to relocate in the middle of recording. (We were in the very back of a little-used area in order to have the quiet company of the redwoods. We weren't bothering anyone. Yet they made us leave... twice!)

If you are interested in the trees and want to know what a fairy ring is, you can find more information here. Redwood trees give birth to new generations and speak to each other through their roots. They are amazing! But on to the knitting...

This is episode number 330, which we're recording on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024.

I'm Gail.

0:18.7

And I'm Charlene.

0:19.6

And we're at UCSC again today and it will probably be our last

0:23.2

time this year because school starts pretty soon and at that point it's way too crowded and loud

0:28.7

to try to record here sadly. Which is too bad because we're sitting here very near the edge of

0:36.3

part of the redwood forest.

0:38.7

And Gail and I were chatting a little bit about the trees and we're staring at what's called a fairy ring of redwoods.

0:46.4

And it's just lovely.

0:47.9

It's so beautiful.

0:49.1

And I took a picture.

0:50.2

So I will post that in the Ravelry thread for this episode.

And you can see a glimpse of the loveliness that is the redwood forest that is surrounding us.

1:00.6

All right. What are you wearing?

1:02.6

I am wearing Bowen, which is a cardigan by Elizabeth Doherty, similar to the fair lawn that I wore last time we were recording, this one has an

1:12.9

open front, a knit on collar and front vans, Elizabeth's signature back braid, and this one

1:20.8

has set in sleeves as opposed to the drop shoulder sleeves of the previous sweater. I used a linen yarn to knit it,

1:32.1

and so it's perfect for summer, warmer weather wearing. How's that for a tongue twister?

1:41.6

What are you wearing, Gail? I am not wearing a hand knit at the moment because it's been rather warm, but the other day

1:49.0

while sitting at my computer, I did get chilly, and I reached for the blanket I have on the

back of my chair that I knit to a perfect size to wrap around my shoulders, and it's the
