This is episode number 174, which we're recording on Saturday, September 1st, 2018.

I'm Gail.

And I'm Charlene. And this is the episode that almost wasn't.

Because I've been sick all week long and still am not 100% better, but I'm getting there. And

I still thought it was August 31st today. Charlene just informed me a few moments ago that it's already September,

so I've been a little out of it. And then this morning, when we were trying to figure out a time

to record, my car had a flat. Just mysteriously, I walked out to the car and the tire was flat.

So that's what we felt like, oh gosh, whatever we try to do, we just can't seem to get there.

So finally, it feels really good.

Here we are.

It's a Saturday.

So we're recording on the college campus on the hill.

We're parked and we're looking at some redwood trees, a nice little redwood grove in front of us.

We saw some deer driving in and it's very quiet. There's a little breeze. It's a perfect

breeze today. It's a lovely day. And it's very quiet. It's Labor Day weekend here in US. So it's a

holiday weekend, three day weekend, and it's still very quiet

on campus because school hasn't started for UCs yet. So we're taking advantage of the quiet.

Yes, and I'm so happy to be recording today. I know. It feels so good, and it feels like so long

since I've seen you, Cal. I know, it has been a long time since we've seen each other grumble grumble all right so what are you wearing I am not wearing a knitted item today because we're sitting in a very warm car but I have had a week of knitted items because it has been a cold week here in Santa Cruz.

It has been a week of socked in solid marine layer.

A couple days, we didn't even see the sun, although we saw the sun for a little bit.
