The census is Congress's responsibility and Congress delegated that the task

responsibility to the Commerce Department. Okay, but it's Congress's

constitutionally and the court has just said what the administration was doing

as it exercised that responsibility was a lie and we're not gonna accept that.

Now the president thinks he might be able to just skirt this whole thing by

issuing an executive order requiring the Secretary of Commerce to add the

question. That's not how executive orders work. Am I wrong about that? As with

everything in the Trump administration, there are people who are trying to make

arguments justifying it and look this builds on the entire theory of a

unitary executive that there are folks in conservative world who love. I don't

really understand how you can call yourself a conservative and believe that the

president needs to act like a king but we are in that universe now. This is
