Turn please to Luke the fourth chapter, Luke chapter four.

We've been on a series for some weeks now that we're calling the Word of Power.

The Word of power. The word of power.

We were on a series prior to that that we focused on faith in the power.

And what we have seen is that Jesus had manifestations of power. And what we have seen is that Jesus had manifestations of power in his life and ministry.

And the way those manifestations occurred primarily was when he spoke. Things happened when he spoke.

In Luke 4, you'll notice in verse 22, it says,

all bear him witness to my Jesus and wondered at the gracious words that proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, is not this

Joseph's son? Verse 32. And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was with power.

Now, astonished is a strong word.

Didn't just say they were intrigued.

They were what?

Astonished.

At what?

At how powerful his words were

at the power of his word

verse 33

said there was a man in the synagogue

that had a spirit.

And verse 35, Jesus rebuked him saying, hold your peace and come out of him.

And verse 36, they were all amazed.

There's a similar word to astonished, amazed, and they spoke among themselves.
