13-year-old Danny Joe Eberley started the morning of September 18, 1983,

just like any other. A little before dawn, he hopped on his bike,

rode to the nearby convenience store, and picked up a stack of newspapers.

Then he peddled down the winding roads of Bellevue, Nebraska,

tossing papers onto the front lawns of his neighbors.

It was an easy, peaceful job, and it was kind of fun to be up and about before everyone

else in town. Well, almost everyone.

Unbeknownst to Danny Joe, 20-year-old John Jupiter, it was awake too.

For the past few days, he had sat behind the wheel of his Tansidan,

trailing the boy on his paper route.
