Nancy DeMas Walgamoos says God provides leaders to shepherd churches and families.

And you can trust those leaders, not because they're perfect, but because Jesus is perfect.

Listen, your trust ultimately isn't in your husband or your pastor.

We need to pray for them.

We need to ask God to give them wisdom.

But ultimately our trust is in Jesus, a good shepherd.

For March 24th, 2022, I'm Dana Gresh. When I think of us as sheep of that words to the hymn,

prone to wander, prone to leave the God I love, we need a shepherd.

And we have a shepherd in Jesus.

As we're looking at some of these names of Jesus found in the Gospel of John this week,

we're being reminded that everything we need is found in Christ, the great I am.

He is the bread of life.

He is the light of the world. And today we want to see that he is the good

shepherd. We need a shepherd, don't we? We are ignorant. Like I understand, sheep are. I have a friend

who's taken up shepherding, has gotten some sheep, and she says, sheep need a shepherd. They are ignorant. They

can't fend for themselves and nor can we, right? They are vulnerable. We need a shepherd. And we have a

shepherd in Jesus. And once again, like so many of these other names, this name of Jesus ties us back

to the Old Testament where we see that God was Israel's shepherd.

We read in Psalm 80, verse 1, give ear, O shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock.

Then in Psalm 95, he is our God.

And we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. The Israelites understood
