The character of Medea in Greek mythology is a controversial figure. She was depicted as a sorceress who helped the man she loved, Jason, the leader of the Argonauts, steal her father's most prized possession, the Golden Fleece.

Then, to aid in their escape from her father, Medea killed her brother and chopped him into pieces to distract her father from pursuing them.

Medea and Jason lived together for 10 years and had many children. Like all myths, there are many versions of this story and in the playwright Euripides version, Jason abandoned Medea to marry King Crayon's daughter.

Medea is furious. From her perspective, she had given up everything for Jason. Medea would do anything for him. She had even killed her brother and given up her family.

But Jason explains to Medea that he must marry the princess to increase his social status and wealth.

Medea was too much of a barbarian, he said, but he told her not to worry. He would still keep her as a mistress.

Needless to say, those words were not well received.

While she pretended to be okay with the situation, Medea plotted her revenge. She sent the princess a wedding gift, the golden robes of the Sun God.

But those robes were covered in poison. And as soon as the princess put them on, she experienced horrible pain and died.

Her father, King Crayon, also died after trying to save her. He too came in contact with the robes and suffered a horrible death.

But Medea was not done seeking revenge.

Angry at the embarrassment and hurt Jason had caused her. She kills their children. Only hesitating when she thinks about the pain, it might cause her.

When Jason rushes in to confront her about the King and his fiance, he finds his children dead.

Medea meets him in a chariot given to her by the Sun God and refuses to let Jason hold his children.

She takes the bodies with her as she leaves him to mourn his losses alone.

Her revenge was now complete.

Diane Downs is a lot like Medea. She too is a narcissist, thinking only about her own pain.

Diane was also fully committed to one man, a man who had rejected her, a man who she would do anything for, even kill her own children.
