The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 42 Many of you will already be very familiar with the fact that the Woke manipulate language, often by meaning more than one thing by a term. One meaning will be quite milquetoast; the other quite radical. Much of Woke activism works by equivocating between these two meanings in a strategic way: boring everyday meanings to gain access and win arguments; specialized meanings to do their activism once they have the power. Among the words that the Woke have strategically manipulated in an important way is democracy. Of course, in nations like the United States and the other contemporary parliamentary democracies, we use democracy to enable republics, to which the Woke are generally strongly opposed. This isn't the only reason for their incessant push for "democracy," though, which is only comprehensible when you understand the relationship between equity (or communism) and democracy. To the Woke, if anyone or any group has any more power, money, or privilege than anyone else (as they see it), there is no equality, thus democracy is skewed. That is, for them, democracy presupposes equity (or communism). In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, James Lindsay walks you through more pieces of the Woke, neo-Marxist, and Marxist literature to make the case that when the Woke are calling for "democracy," they mean something that demands a very radical agenda along with it. 0:29.4	More specifically, more broadly, I think most of you will be very familiar at this point,

0:39.7	whether it's a podcast or my written work, you'll be very familiar or if you just experience
0:44.2	these ideologies like critical race theory or critical theories more broadly or critical
0:48.2	social justice or whatever you want to name all of the various branches, I think you
0:52.4	be very familiar with the idea that they abuse language, that they tend to mean more than
0:57.3	one thing by words, they trade off the public's expectation that words mean what they usually
1:06.0	mean while they have some specialized meaning.
1:08.9	So there are a variety of tricks that they use in conjunction with that where they kind
1:12.8	of mean two things it wants.
1:14.2	We could talk kind of humorously about Schrodinger's superposition of words or meanings of words
1:20.9	or whatever.
1:21.9	They're trading off of this equivocation so they might stand up in front of a crowd and
1:26.6	in this case, we're talking about democracy so they might say that we need more democracy.
1:33.0	And you might think, well, yeah, well, maybe, and then you might have a little tick in your
1:37.8	brain.
1:38.8	This is where a republic and the Greeks warned about too much democracy, but generally
1:42.4	speaking, okay, this is this is the thing that Americans are very easily sucked in on
1:46.8	democracy.
1:47.8	And of course, if you remember the testimony from Dr. Bella Dodd, the defected Communist
