So in 2019, just seven years ago, the Taiwanese Canadian billionaire Joseph Sy is his name,

purchased a WNBA franchise called the New York Liberty, and he purchased them for, we think,

like between $10 and $15 million.

He moved the New York Liberty from their home games, which they were playing Westchester

County to the heart of Brooklyn into the same venue, the Nets playing at the Barclays Center.

He also purchased the Nets that year.

And now the New York Liberty are worth $450 million, almost half a billion dollars.

they could just run the math in your head, buys it seven years ago for $14 million,

now worth half a billion. Now, that is an extreme example of what's been happening to

women's sports in the WMBA, but is in line with what has been an absolute explosion in women's professional sports

in America. And there's a bunch of different contexts that's produces. One is, ever since Title IX,

we've seen this imperative to have equal spending at the collegiate level on women's sports
