We're going to go down to the campfire for our annual Halloween tradition of 13 spooky tales over the course of 13 nights.

Y'all, just outside of the town of Gadsden, Alabama, up in the northeastern corner of the state,

is a stretch of dirt and gravel that few dare to travel on after dark.

Its name is Heinz Road, and like many of those dark and lonely roads we've traveled to here right by our campfire,

it too has been the center of some awful wicked supernatural or paranormal activity,

either echoes of the horrors that might have happened here, or possibly even the

aftermath of a curse. You see, according to local lore, sometime back at the end of the 19th century,

a woman named Torbett lived out here in the woods all alone.

But Torbett was no ordinary woman.

No, locals believed that she was a witch, and folks in town whispered rumors that she had sold her soul to the devil in exchange for great power.
