Christie has free-birthed all three of her children. She shares the story of how she

registered for a midwife with her first pregnancy and quickly discovered she wanted to

opt out of that system and instead be the leader of her own experience. We talk about Lotus Birth, using

fertility awareness method for conceiving an intuitive self prenatal care. My name is Christy and I live in Manitoba, Canada right in the middle of the prairies.

I was pregnant with my first son 12 years ago and I had

always known that I wanted to have a home birth. I always knew that I would want a midwife. So in our like the province where we

live midwifery is legislated so, so it's regulated and it's free, it's a free care for people, which is, you know, sounds amazing.

But, you know, what I realized through my journey of being pregnant with my first son that came

with a lot of other stuff that I was in super into as I realized.

So I had two midwives assigned to me.

I would go visit them for some prenatal care.

I knew I didn't want any ultrasound, so I never had one.

They did use a Doppler at the beginning and then I read up that,

you know, Doppler's maybe give away like a stronger frequency than ultrasound so I didn't want them using

the Doppler anymore either so the one midwife who I didn't resonate with at all

was not super into it in fact one of my last appointments that I had with

her right at the beginning she just

took it out and put on my belly well i was really taken aback and I said can you please not do that I've decided to not use that anymore like you do the
