We do this three times a year at the beginning

of each of publishing's seasons.

Three true seasons, the three true seasons that should be. Yes, winter is January through April.

Summer is May through August and then fall is September through December.

That's the way it is.

That's as it ever shall be.

We set out to each draft a basket of 10 books that we think if you're a general reader

and you're going to read 10 books this season this is a good well-rounded

selection for your reading life so we're looking for crowd pleasers a little bit of a little bit of

variety up a little go down a little bit of variety go up a little go down a little you know yeah

um we don't get terribly nerdy in these because that's not the general

reader we save that for our most anticipated personal books and then of course you

all listening to this get to vote on which basket you it's supposed to be which basket you think is best

for the general reader it has kind of morphed

into or we learned that folks were voting just for the ones that they were most
