The Wall Around Jerusalem has been completed.

Their security has been completed. Their security has been

established. Responsibilities have been delegated and even the daily

schedule has been set. But Nehemiah's tasks are not over. Now he turns his attention from

restoring the city's wall to helping revive the city itself.

To a Jew, Jerusalem was a place of great honor.

The city of David, their promised inheritance and the dwelling place of their God.

So once the wall was in place, it only stood to reason that

Nehemiah's next task would be to bring God's people back to live inside. But the man could not

do that alone. He needed a special group of people, people who would serve a vital function in Jerusalem but would never see their

names in lights. Today as we study Nehemiah's strategies in application, I want us to consider our own

sacrificial service and to learn to truly appreciate those who work behind the scenes wherever we are in our

homes at the places of our work in other realms of leadership, certainly including the church.
