So if you're wondering why we did not talk about Taylor, this was recorded B.F. before folklore. But I'm kind of glad that that was the case

that was Gaslighter so you know what time it is. It's Chicks, Popcasts, the Chicks, Nay, the Dixie Chicks.

I didn't get to write about Gas Lider, so I was kind of bummed about. So I wanted to be able to have a conversation

about it with some folks who had been thinking hard about it. Gaslighter, it's

the fifth major label Chicks album. There are obviously the three records that predate that it comes at a particularly

interesting moment in terms of the political turmoil in the country right now.

And also, the Chicks album is that rare opportunity

for a group or a musical act that was very influential and then stepped away to come back and still make a record that feels very current in part because of the table that was set for them by the people that they influenced.

So this is not a nostalgia album, this is not an album that feels like it's coming out of left

field or even worse feels completely out of tune with the larger musical conversation and also social conversation.

This is an album that seems to arrive at just the right moment anticipated by the work of Taylor

Swift and Miranda Lambert and Casey Musgraves and also from production perspective you know Jack Anstoff did a lot of this record and
