And hello to you and welcome to a little bonus bite of the Richard Nichols podcast.

0:06.5

Today, I want to give you a fun little teaser of a full-length episode that I made on Patreon

0:12.8

a month or so ago, because it's a good one. It's playful. It's a bit quirky, but also

0:19.0

surprisingly deep, because I'm talking about the psychology of

0:22.7

Would You Rather questions. You probably know the ones. Would you rather fight a hundred

0:29.3

duck-sized horses or one-horse-sized duck? Yes, it's ridiculous, but underneath all that

1:30.6

What psychologists call dual process theory, where both the fast emotional part of your brain

1:37.7

and the slower, more rational bit, come online to debate each other. Because your mind goes,

1:46.5

could I really live without chocolate?

1:52.7

And then you think, well, technically, I don't need chocolate and on and it goes. Even if it's nonsense, your brain is going to take the question seriously. And that's what makes it fun.

1:58.5

Because in that moment, you get a little insight into yourself, into how you react under pressure,

2:05.4

what kind of trade-offs you're willing to make and how much you might overthink things.

2:10.5

Here's another one for you.
