I-N-D-E-N. Hey, this is Trey. Thank you for joining us for a Tuesday edition of our podcast. Hope your holiday season is going very well. A couple of things making the news that caught my attention,

perhaps yours as well. One is decidedly political. The other may or may not be. I'll let you decide and we'll start with the ambiguous one. There are 12 happy football teams right now.

There are scores of unhappy football teams, but in truth, most of those have no one to blame but themselves, including many of the

teams that I pull for. And they would admit that. And then there are the handful of teams

who fall into this zone of ambiguity.

They have arguments to be in the playoffs, in fact, compelling arguments, but the jury saw it

differently. I would be lying if I said I was a Notre Dame fan. I do, however, have people

that I like very much who are. Some graduated

from Notre Dame. One coached the football team at Notre Dame. The other has children who

went to Notre Dame. I've got a lot of friends that are heavily invested in that university and that athletics program.

And Notre Dame is a national brand.

The knock against Notre Dame is that they are sometimes shown favoritism by those who do the polls or the rankings.

But not this time.

In fact, you could argue Notre Dame fell victim to being treated unfairly.

Yes, they started the season zero and two.

But against two very good football teams, in fact, two teams that made the playoffs.

After that beginning, they looked to me objectively, and again,

not a huge Notre Dame fan, but they looked like one of the best teams in the country to me.

Now, those two losses were months ago. One was on the road in a pretty hostile environment. The other was at home,

but both were very, very close games. And then after that, they ran the table. The ACC champ,
