Did you read John 17 today? Anybody read John 17 today? Look here. Is it not an amazing chapter of the Bible?

And it is not just a chapter. It is a the Bible and it is not just a chapter it is a prayer it is the prayer of Jesus and it is not just the prayer of Jesus it is the prayer

of Jesus it is the prayer of Jesus on his way to the cross which means eternity is in

view in the prayer of John chapter 17 and it is I think sobering and joyful at the same time

when John Knox was dying you talk about a man who faced a lot of hardship and he's on his

deathbed and he calls for his wife and she comes to the room and he says to her get my Bible

and she gets the Bible and he says to her, get my Bible. And she gets the Bible and he says,

I want you to read a passage to me. Now he's getting ready to go be with God. Think about this.

He's getting ready to go see the father. And she said, what passage would you like me to read? And his

response was, I want you to read the passage where I cast my first

anchor, John chapter 17. You know, John 17 is full of anchor truths because it roots us in the

person and work of Jesus Christ. And I got good news for you.

It doesn't just work on your deathbed.

It works for life too.

Now we're jumping right in the middle of John chapter 17.

We began on the Lord's Day in verse number one on the hour that changed the world,

the hour that came.
