Today, on the weekend pulpit, we are happy to share a full-length Bible message

given through Scott's pulpit ministry. These messages were recorded live in a local church

or gospel event in recent days. It is our prayer that the message will be a help to you today. I want you to open the Word of God with me again to the first book of the Bible, if you will, the book of Genesis.

1:01.8

Is your Bible just naturally falling open there yet?

1:04.7

We've been spending all week long in it and the life of Abraham and Sarah.

1:10.6

The reality is I was in the Middle East not too many

1:13.7

months ago and no matter where you travel in the world, if you say the name Abraham, people know

1:19.4

1:24.9

1:35.1

between Abraham, the Old Testament, and the Lord Jesus Christ in the New Testament. So if you know

1:41.6

Abraham but you don't know Jesus, then you missed it. Because the whole thing

1:46.6

about Abraham and Abraham's line, Abraham's family was that it was the family through which our

1:53.6

precious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, would come. The amazing thing was Jesus was, Jesus was

1:58.3

having a conversation one day with a group of people and he made a comment about how old he was and what he had seen, and they said, you're saying that you're as old as Abraham, and he said, no, I'm older than Abraham.

2:10.5

He goes, before Abraham was, I am. You see, the Lord Jesus is the eternal son of God. And Abraham and Sarah just got in on what God was doing in their lifetime, at their moment in history.

2:24.4

You understand we all live in our moment in history.

2:27.8

We have our little blip on the map.

2:30.1

And the only thing that makes it valuable, the only thing that makes it meaningful is that it is connected to what God is doing in eternity.

2:39.3

So when we open the word of God, I must tell you, I don't want you to know Abraham better.
