So open your Bible with me in the New Testament to the book of Hebrews to Hebrews chapter number 11.

And when you get there, don't turn me off because when you get there,

people say, oh, we know this chapter. The danger of familiar passages is that they are familiar

passages. And so people come to them and they think, I know that already. I would argue that there are

many things we do not know, even from the familiar text,

and of the things that we do know, we often are not doing with them what we ought to be doing.

And when you come to Hebrews chapter number 11, you come to the classic passage,

the great summary passage on faith.

In fact, that's the way the chapter starts.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

And then it begins to detail for us, walking through the holes of time, that the lives of men and women of faith.

I think sometimes we even say great men of faith and great women of faith.

May I just say to you this morning, there's only one that is great,

and that is our God. And you got to put the great on the other end. They may be people of great faith,

or they may be little people with little faith, but they are believing a great God. You see,
