Is Catholicism the trend of 2022?

This is a question posed not by yours truly, but rather by The Week, which is, I think, a weekly editorial.

And it has been trafficked in now this question, is Catholicism the hot new trend, by Slate magazine, New York Times, other magazines as well, like First Things, where you'd expect it more probably.

And I'll tell you what, the writers at these secular left rags that ask the question are only halfway ironic.

They understand that something's happening.

Now, of course, the answer to the question is the voracious truth, the one and only truth, capital T truth, who is a god man, the logos, Jesus Christ.

In one sense, can never be a trend. This is like reducing or trivializing something fine

in casting it before swine like pearls.

In another sense, yeah, the truth can come in and out of vogue.

And with the swarming herd, with the Hoy-Polloy, the masses,

they will embrace it or reject it according to the sign of the times.

Things nowadays, the conditions for the possibility of evangelization of the one true

faith are pushing people into the faith in at least superficial ways.

And we're going to talk about that on today's show because some of the paragraphs of

this week article, which comes from about two weeks ago,

two weeks ago, the week ran this interesting op-ed, which is not wholly negative, does not

answer its titular question wholly in the negative, I should say.

And there's stuff you need to hear, parish orphans and retrogrades.
