Hello and welcome to Bible Stories.

I am your host, Matt Mullins.

Your other host, Todd Hemens, is out today.

He's on vacation.

He is on the sunny beaches of Florida, enjoying that heat.

So we'll be excited to welcome Todd back, but in the meantime, today, I want to share

with you another story from the first year of Jesus' ministry.

And today, friends, we're heading to a wedding.

That's right, it's wedding season.

The place was Kena and Jesus and his disciples and his mother were all in attendance.

That's right, Mary the mother of Jesus is there.

It's a pretty incredible guest list.

Weddings in this time period were a bit different in their focus than they are today.

And if you've been to a wedding recently, whether it's a barn wedding or a church wedding

or a wedding in a McDonald's, the big thing for us is we want the bride and groom to

be celebrated.

We want particularly the bride to really enjoy that time.

And if that's the case, if the bride and groom are satisfied with the wedding, love the

wedding, then the wedding was an incredible success.

In Jesus' time, the focus of the wedding was, of course, on the union of a man and a woman.

But also, it was an opportunity for the host to demonstrate hospitality to those who

were invited.
