I've read this book.

In fact, I read it as Matt was writing it and sending me

some chapters to look at. Matt Smithhurst has done such a good job with this book. He's very

careful. There's lots of good footnotes. He really synthesize a lot of Keller's material.

Keller offers a lot of biblical insights that have shaped a lot of church leaders in the PCA, my denomination, but elsewhere here and around the world,

and stirred a lot of different audiences, and people continue to debate Tim's ideas and

find good fodder there and many things to implement and sometimes things to disagree with. But

there's no doubt Keller was one of the most influential teachers and pastors of this previous generation.

And it was a really committed, genuine Christian, and very grateful for this work from Matt,

who has taken Keller's work topic by topic, and each chapter highlights a key aspect of the Christian life.

And this is what I think Tim was really, really best at was talking about what does it look

like to be a committed Christian and to live the Christian life. And some of those topics of

prayer and scripture or the bread and butter stuff

is the Keller stuff that will last suffering, friendship, vocation, intimacy with God.
