Summary

In this new five-part series, Historic Royal Palaces Curator Charles Farris leads us into the stormy world of the Wars of the Roses.

We aim to reveal how and why such a turbulent period of conflict occurred in the 15th century, and ultimately how it ushered in a new dynasty with the Tudors.

Charles will be joined by expert historians and Curators from Historic Royal Palaces, to help unpack what has made the Wars of the Roses so legendary.

0:13.0	In this new series, we'll be exploring the conflict that's known as the Wars and the Roses,
0:19.0	a time of bloody battles, heroes and villains, and legendary
0:23.7	acts of vengeance and betrayal. And these have inspired centuries of writers. Unpicking any history
0:32.4	is no easy task, and that is certainly true of the Wars the Roses. So in in this series we're going to lay out the facts and interrogate the key characters and major events of this time.
0:44.3	Our aim is to help you better understand the stormy and often polarised narratives round the Wars of the Roses.
0:53.3	We're going to question the context behind why the crown was able to be usurped multiple times,
0:59.0	how women wielded power at a time when men fought on the battlefield,
1:03.0	and ultimately we want to examine how a new dynasty was able to rise from the ashes of such violence and turmoil. Joining us for this five-part series is an amazing line-up of expert historians
