This is hell. Live from the United States where the law is far too often the crime.

This is hell. The poor suffer the most. The poor sacrifice the most. The poor put the most at risk, whether it's during economic crisis, environmental crisis, public health

crisis, or even political crisis, the poor are always the ones who pay the most.

The poor lead the most precarious lives, yet when a crisis arises, when it finally hits, they are

the ones left most vulnerable.

The recently passed and as our guest today will argue historic inflation reduction act does help the poor, but not to the extent it was supposed to.

However, in making concessions with opponents of the bill, a $15 hour minimum wage and a child care tax credit that could have had a positive and direct impact on the lives of the poor, those were cut which played a role in ensuring the Act's passage. In fact, it's easy to argue that the treatment of the poor in the United States

is inhumane as again our guest will argue later this morning but when we live

under a system that incentivizes the imposition of suffering upon the poor,

which leads to profits so the already rich can become more wealthy, is it any surprise that suffering

continues seemingly unabated? Considering all the suffering imposed upon the poor, you would think there would be some sort of, I don't know, national campaign fighting for their rights, fighting for their humanity.

In a few minutes, we will talk to someone who is part

of the leadership of that campaign. Theologian ordained minister and anti-poverty activists
