Hey guys, this is Heidi St. John and I have come back and recorded an a little addendum, but we're

injecting this video. You're going to notice it doesn't match with the rest of today's show. And that's

because something really important happened this week that I want to bring you guys up to speed on.

So we learned that an attempt was being made here in Washington state to put more regulations on

the homeschoolers of the state. The main thing is that they were going to try and lower the

age of compulsory education in Washington from eight to six. But there was also language in the

bill that would have created a burden on parents. It would have set them up for possible truancy charges.

I mean, I'm thinking back to the 1980s when people like my friend,

Zan Tyler, face truancy charges.

It would have required that parents submit a year,

submit their plan for learning for their child two years in advance of homeschooling. Now, the state argued that

this was about money on one level, on the other level. They said the quiet part out loud.

You heard the sponsoring Senator, Senator Wellman, talk about how they really wanted to know

where your children were. Well, guess what?

It's none of your business where my children are.

It's none of your business.

And homeschoolers are doing just fine in Washington State.

And so we wanted the state of Washington to get their hands off homeschooling.

That was the theme that we decided on along with my friends at the Washington

homeschool organization and also HSLDA huge shout out to the who for securing a place

for us to meet on the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday ahead of that hearing and
