Here is your special episode about the battles of Midway, Guadalcanal and Iwojima.

In previous episodes, I've told a number of stories centered around World War II.

We've talked about how the Germans attacked Great Britain in an epic and thunderous

blitz that lasted for months on end.

This clash was not only between two nations, it was a mighty clash of wills between the

evil Nazi ruler Adolf Hitler and Great Britain's Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

For over a year, the iron-willed Churchill kept Hitler's Nazi regime from taking over

the entirety of Europe.

The war was also happening on the oceans.

I told you the story of how the Japanese attacked the American naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Our story today picks up after that attack happened on December 7, 1941.

After that raid on Pearl, the United States declared war on Japan and joined the Allied

forces against the Axis forces which were comprised of Germany, Italy and Japan.

In the weeks and months following the attack at Pearl Harbor, the United States and Japan

engaged in battles in the Pacific.
