Hi everyone, it's 4 o'clock in New York. The violent collision of hate and easy access

to weapons of war expanded its blast radius over the weekend to a premium outlet mall in

Texas, where that state's Republican leaders are today striking a pose of complete impotence

in the face of both deadly forces. The 199th mass shooting of the year in America took

place at a mall in Allen, Texas. That is a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Eight people were murdered,

including a five-year-old boy. Six others were injured.

Unimaginable, unthinkable carnage unfolded as a man armed with an AR-15-style rifle opened

fire. Here's how one eyewitness who rushed to the mall and his son called and said that

shots have been fired outside the store where he worked, describes the scene.

The first girl I walked up to was crouched down, covering her head in the bushes. So I

felt for a pulse, pulled her head to the side and she had no face. And so when I rolled

the mother over, he came out and I asked him, are you okay? And he said, my mom is hurt,

my mom's hurt. So rather than traumatizing me anymore, I put him around the corner,

he was covered from head to toe like somebody had poured blood on him.

The accounts are getting more graphic. His account though, just one of many, in which

eyewitnesses describe the horrors inflicted by weapons of war, weapons like the AR-15.

The gunman was eventually shot dead by a police officer. His motive is still under investigation.

The Washington Post reports that the suspect quote, quote, had an apparent fascination with

white supremacist or neo-Nazi beliefs that are now being examined by investigators as a possible

motor for the attack that is according to people familiar with the investigation speaking
