Hello everyone. My name is still Lee and welcome back to this short announcement

episode of the Viking Age podcast. As I mentioned last time, I have recently had the

chance to take a bit of time off from my day job,

and I've spent most of that time reading, writing, and scheming ways to make the show better for you.

The output of most of that is simply a long list of things for me personally to work on improving.

Writing, editing, speaking, the like.

However, there are a few things which will change the show and impact you as listeners,

so I wanted to take a couple of minutes to simply make you aware of them.

First off is the game plan for the show. Way back in episode one I laid out a proposed

season-based timeline for topics we'll cover on the show. Silly episode onely, so young, so naive.

Upon further reading, thinking, and the experience of actually producing six episodes,

I've decided to ditch that plan,

in favor of shorter, more focused series of episodes

on specific topics.

The first of those series has actually just concluded, Scandinavia before the Viking Age.

We're going to move on now to talk about the first Viking raids in the British Isles, up until about 841 CE and will be bouncing

back and forth between the locations of the raids in Scandinavian homelands

focusing mainly in Norway in a quest to explain why these raids began as they did.

After that, we'll take a brief break from Viking activities abroad and take a look at everyday life in Viking Age Scandinavia.

Then we're going to backtrack in time and look at Viking activity in continental Europe

up until about 865 CE, exploring raiding, trading, and the impact this

had on the Scandinavian homelands, which this time will focus primarily on Denmark. And after that, who knows? We'll probably head
