Summary

Life in prison wasn’t enough for the Knights of Mary Phagan. They wanted Leo Frank to pay with his life, and they were going to make sure it happened. In Georgia, vigilante justice wasn’t new, but this time was different. This time, it would change the nation. Would the vigilantes actually get away with it?

0:19.0	Leo Frank sat handcuffed in the back seat of a car, still in his night shirt, unsure what would happen next or where this mob of 25 men was taking him.
0:26.2	It only took 10 minutes for the mob to descend on the prison farm,
0:29.8	restrained the warden and superintendent, kidnap Leo from his bed, and start their cars to leave.
0:36.8	As Leo was tossed into the backseat of one of the vehicles, the prison superintendent
0:41.9	stood nearby and asked to have his own
0:44.1	handcuffs removed. It's easy to imagine Leo looking up at this point, hoping that
0:49.9	the superintendent had a plan to save him.
0:54.1	That's when one of the kidnappers pulled a rope out of a car
0:57.8	and held it in front of Leo's face.
1:01.5	It was already nodded into a noose.

1:08.0	And here's where it gets interesting.
1:10.0	Despite earlier agreements not to stop the men from taking Leo,
1:16.6	prison officials jumped into the wardens car to follow the escaping caravan,
1:20.8	but the kidnappers had planned for that. The gas... a They learned that the prison bookkeeper had a car and sent him to the town of Millageville to call for help, but he quickly discovered Yellow Jacket Brown's handiwork.
1:42.0	Phone and telegraph lines had been severed.
1:46.0	Finally, at about midnight, two full hours after the Vigilantes left the prison with Leo,
1:53.2	someone in Melageville found a working phone line
1:56.3	and called officials in Augusta, Georgia.
