Hello there. A quick word of introduction to Herbert West Reanimator before we begin.

This story was originally written between October 1921 and June 1922. It was first serialized in February through July

1922 in the amateur publication Homebrew and so I will be serialising it too in six chapter episodes, not just to be

in keeping with its original presentation, but because I think that short podcasts are more digestible than one great big 90 minute

episode.

Also, don't be alarmed, but I read this one in an American accent. I can't remember why now. I know the narrator is clearly American as they always are,

but this one I thought was especially so. So I apologize in advance if I get my vowel sounds wrong here and there and there's an

outtake section at the end of chapter 5 actually with some of my mistakes in that episode relating to mispronouncing a certain word.

And finally, in case you haven't seen the 1985 movie, Reanimator, you really should.

That was my introduction to H.P. Lovecraft as a young man, and I've watched it and its

sequels many times since. So do give it a try. I'm sure you'll love it.

I've heard it was Of Herbert West, West, who was my friend in college and in afterlife, I can only speak with extreme terror. This terror is not due altogether to the sinister manner of his recent

disappearance, but was engendered by the whole nature of his life work, and first gained its

acute form more than 17 years ago when we were in the third year of our course at the

Miskatonic University Medical School in Arkham. While he was with me, the wonder and diabolism of his experiments fascinated me utterly, and I was his closest companion.

Now that he is gone and the spell is broken, the actual fear is greater. Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous

than realities. The first, horrible incident of our acquaintance was the greatest shock I ever experienced,
