Carl Marx once wrote dismissively of those that write recipes for the cook shops of the future.

He was emphasizing that we can't come up with some kind of pre-made plan right now for what our future socialist society will look like

because that would be undemocratic and it wouldn't take into account the specific

conditions that such a society would be created in and thus it would most likely be generally very wrong. be

But Sam Ginden argues that we can't use that quote

as a way to excuse ourselves from providing credible answers to people

for what a future socialism might look like.
