Chicago Democratic Socialists of America won election to the Chicago City Council last year, as you've

probably heard me say on this podcast before.

We've interviewed several of them for this podcast.

One of the six who was elected is Rosanna Rodriguez,

elected as Alderman of the 33rd ward on Chicago's northwest side, mostly covering

the working class and immigrant but rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of Albany Park.

She's been in office for eight months now, so I thought I would check in with her. We talked about what

her time in office has been like, why she's supporting Bernie Sanders for president

and the continued battering of her native Puerto Rico

by both weather and climate change and austerity in colonialism.
