I find myself in a slightly strange position on this week's episode in which I am introducing

myself as the guest of this episode, joined by Jack Bin Staff Writers Alex Press and Megan

Day. Hello to both of you. Hi Micah. Thank you for letting me be a co-host this week.

Yeah, I'm glad that you're here. Micah is here to promote his piece in the nation. What's

your piece in the nation? This is a very awkward thing for me to do. I'm not used to being

in this position, but I'm the one who gets interviewed about things. I ask the questions

around here. We are here to talk about my piece in the February 22nd March 1st issue of

the nation. Amid the wildfires, Mike Davis is forecast for the left, which is a broad overview

of the socialist writer, Mike Davis's life and career. And we should introduce Micah as

well. Micah is the deputy editor of Jack Bin McVeasean. He is also the co-author with me

of a book called Bigger Than Bernie, How We Go From the Sanders Campaign to Democratic Socialism.

And he is the voice of his generation. I am a voice of my generation. I assume one voice

among many in the generation. Alright, so let's move on to the interview. Thanks Micah for coming

on. Hi Micah. It's great to be on your podcast talking about your piece. Seriously, it's

like a pleasure and honor. Your piece is really good and I'm excited to dive into it with you.

So I'm going to start out by asking you this, Micah, as your frequent collaborator who has

a lot of irons in the fire with you and lots of ideas about things that you could be doing

with your time at any given moment. I have to ask you why you felt compelled to read 11 books

and spend eight months on a magnum opus about the work of Mike Davis. Well, you read one

Mike Davis book and you're like, what the hell is this guy's deal? And you don't really feel,

at least I didn't really feel like I totally understood the guy. And then also the more you learn
