Bernie is facing some pretty tough odds in the Democratic race right now. Tough

odds both in the delegate math against Joe Biden but also in the fact that it's

a bit difficult to campaign during that pandemic and we shouldn't totally count him

out yet because who knows what Biden is going to say or do next and who

knows what the threshold is for Democratic Party leaders in mainstream media who

knows at what point they'll see like their 48 you know absolutely

cringe-worthy and completely nonsensical live stream or MS NBC interview from

Biden and decide that they have to be the adult in the room and gang Biden off the stage.

Who knows what's going to happen there?

But there's no getting around that things are looking pretty tough for burning.

He should absolutely stay in the race because he has a critical role to play in keeping progressive policies on the national agenda, but his odds for winning the presidency are definitely stacked against him.

But rather than bemoaned this state of affairs,

we should start assessing what we've learned from the Sanders campaign

and where we go from here.

And it is my contention that where we are after two Bernie Sanders

presidential runs after the rebirth of socialism on the national stage after the explosion and

membership and relevance of a group like the Democratic socialists of America after

a teacher strike wave and worker militancy exploding during this pandemic after all

of these things we're actually in pretty good shape which makes that

conversation about where we should go from here all the more urgent.
