tuning in. We're recording this podcast on Wednesday, April 8th, the day that Bernie Sanders has dropped out of the race for

the Democratic nomination for president.

It's a rough day for many of us who have really thrown ourselves into the Bernie campaign and crazily enough maybe

believe that he could actually become president of the United States, could become the most powerful person in the entire world.

And the just wild oscillations between thinking that Bernie never stood a chance and then

the primary is kicking off and Bernie actually winning several of them leading us

to believe that it actually maybe Bernie could sweep this thing

to this point where we are now wrestling with what it will mean to live in a world

yet again as we did after 2016 a world where Bernie Sanders is not running for president

and likely will not be running again it's it's a bit of a feeling of

whiplash trying to get our head around it and I wanted to get a kind of immediate read on

this moment from two people who have been both observers and participants in this

movement Marianoo de Pr, who is an elected member of the Democratic

Socialist of America's National Political Committee, and Eric Blanc, who has been

on this podcast before, he's a regular contributor to

Jacobin, author of the book Red State Revolt and a surrogate for Bernie during the

20-20 campaign traveling with the campaign all over the

country.

Before I get to that discussion, I do have to mention it feels a little a mercenary on the same day that Bernie is dropping out of the race but
