Ladies and gentlemen, we've got a really big show tonight.

Those were words sometimes said by the late and great Ed Sullivan.

His show, the Ed Sullivan Show, was one of the longest running weekly shows on TV,

airing from June of 1948 till it was cancelled in 1971.

It was a variety show that had multiple acts and guests each week.

Some of those acts would go on to overnight stardom, just from a single appearance on the show.

And he did have some absolutely huge guests on the show, most notably Elvis Presley, the show. And he did have some absolutely huge guests on the show. Most notably, Elvis Presley,

The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, the Rolling Stones, and everyone's childhood favorite,

The Muppets. He would have cast from musicals, acrobats, magicians, just about anything you can think of.
