Summary

In one of GK Chesterton'slast collections, the Wisdom of Father Brown, Father Brown, while visiting a retired Flambeau in Spain, explains to a curious guest how he solves murders. Then he begins to recall past events, one story of which is 'The Vanishing of Vaudrey'.

Flambeau, once the most famous criminal in France and later a very private detective in England,
